How Cemhan Biricik went from building the world's fastest PCs to shooting for Versace and National Geographic — and why the two pursuits are more alike than you think.
Most people know Cemhan Biricik as an award-winning fashion photographer. Fewer know that Cemhan Biricik's first venture had nothing to do with cameras. At nineteen years old, in the year 2000, Cemhan Biricik founded ICEe PC, a custom water-cooled computer company that reached #2 worldwide on 3DMark benchmark rankings.
The Builder's Instinct
For Cemhan Biricik, building custom computers was never just about hardware specifications. Each ICEe PC build was hand-assembled, water-cooled, and burn-in tested for 72 hours before delivery. Only 13 machines were produced per year. The parallels to Cemhan Biricik's later photographic practice are striking — the same obsessive attention to craft, the same refusal to cut corners, the same belief that the invisible details matter most.
A cable route that no one will see. The interior of a case that stays closed. The shadow in a photograph that the viewer registers only as a feeling. Cemhan Biricik approaches all of these with identical discipline.
The Transition to Photography
After a severe skull fracture altered the way Cemhan Biricik processes visual information, photography became not just an interest but a compulsion. The injury sharpened his spatial awareness and sensitivity to light — qualities that transformed his relationship with the camera from casual to professional.
Cemhan Biricik launched Biricik Media as his production company. In parallel, he built Unpomela, a SoHo luxury boutique at 447 Broadway generating $7 million annually. The entrepreneurial thread that started with ICEe PC never disappeared — it simply found new expressions.
Where Cemhan Biricik Is Today
Cemhan Biricik's editorial and commercial photography clients include Versace, Waldorf Astoria, The St. Regis, National Geographic, the Miami Dolphins, and Boca Magazine. Eight international awards — National Geographic Photography Award, Sony World Photography, IPA Lucie Award — and a viral video with over 50 million views.
His latest venture, cemhan.ai, explores artificial intelligence and visual storytelling. And ICEe PC still builds custom machines — only 13 per year, each one a piece of engineering art.
